Send your customers digital files with their purchases. Upload and associate digital files with products

Accepted file types

You can upload any file type except for HTML files. To upload compressed folders, accepted formats are .zip, .tar, and .rar.

Add a digital file to your account

Manage all digital files under Settings > Files. Digital files can be uploaded under Settings > Files or on a product. Each digital file under Settings > Files has a dedicated download page where customers can access and download their purchased files.


  1. Click Settings > Files
  2. Click Add file.
  3. Choose the digital file you wish to add. Click Confirm.

Add a digital file to a product variant


  1. Click Products.
  2. Find digital files at the bottom of the page, click Add.
  3. Pick from Choose existing or upload a new one.
  4. Choose the digital file you wish to add and click Confirm.

Update digital file settings on a product

When updating digital file settings on a Product, the updates only apply to that product, and not other products that file is connected to. Depending on your preference, you can update download settings for:

  • Download limit - the digital file quantity that's allowed for download.
  • Download validity - the amount of time the customer can download the file after it was sent via email.


  1. In your Popup admin, navigate to Products.
  2. Under digital files, click the three horizontal dots beside it.
  3. Click Download settings from the menu.
  4. Follow the prompt and update the available settings.
  5. Click Confirm.

Sending digital files to customers

Customers can download their purchased files in two ways. Both options lead them to a download page where they can access the files.

Customers can access the download page in two ways:

  1. They receive an email with a link to the download page (automatically sent to the customer).
  2. They can find the download page on the Order status page (if it's added to a Journey).

Deleting digital files

If a digital file is deleted from your Popup account, customers will no longer have access to it, resulting in a 404 page if they try to download it. However, if you delete a variant, customers can still access the digital file or download link.

Remove a digital file from a variant


  1. In your Popup admin, navigate to Products.
  2. Select the file you want to delete, then click the three horizontal dots beside it.
  3. Tap Remove digital file.
